Autocanteen features Elo Products in their AI-powered self-checkout solution for catering

AUTOCANTEEN FEATURES ELO PRODUCTS IN THEIR AI-POWERED SELF-CHECKOUT SOLUTION FOR CATERING

Autocanteen Self-Checkout

The innovative self-checkout solution powered by computer vision needs no barcodes and takes only 10 seconds on average for a complete purchase cycle.

London, United Kingdom, July 15, 2021 - Autocanteen, a UK-based start-up focused on artificial intelligence and computer vision solutions for the food service industry, is partnering with Elo, a leading global supplier of interactive technology solutions, to enhance their AI-powered self-checkout solution. The partnership combines 50 years of experience in touchscreen solutions from Elo with cutting edge AI software from Autocanteen to benefit clients in the hospitality, travel and retail markets. The computer vision self-checkout solution has received a tremendous amount of interest from the global leaders in contract catering and has been successfully tested by Fortune 500 food and facility services companies.

Launched in May 2020 during the first COVID-19 lockdown, Autocanteen has demonstrated its value to leading catering firms as employees and students return to offices and universities. Its solution brings significant business benefits including reduced staffing costs, increased staff availability for focusing on non-checkout tasks, reduced queues, increased revenue, less food waste and enhanced digital capability.

In February 2021 Autocanteen’s team completed a successful trial of their self-checkout solution with a global catering firm. Using Autocanteen’s solution, the company achieved quick, impressive results, checking out 20,000 items, or around £50,000 in products, in just 10 weeks with only one self-checkout point. The average transaction time per customer was only 10 seconds with a 97% accuracy rate that is continually improving via its self-learning algorithm.

Sergii Khomenko, co-founder & CEO of Autocanteen said: COVID has forever changed the way we work; no one is coming back to the office for five days a week. Most businesses will find hybrid working most efficient, with their employees having the flexibility of being in the office only two to three days a week. This will mean that canteens the Business and Industry (B&I) sector will have to offer some sort of self-service to stay afloat. We are pioneers in bringing the self-service technology to the hospitality market.

Elo has a proven track record in self-service with experience in both Android- and Windows-based self-order and self-checkout products. The Autocanteen solution features the popular I-Series all-in-one touchscreen with integrated Linux computing. Mounted on a countertop stand with printer pocket, the touchscreen can easily be equipped with accessories such as magnetic stripe reader, status light and payment terminals thanks to Elo’s Edge Connect™ system of modular peripherals.

We are pleased to be part of such an innovative concept, said Maarten Bais, VP and General Manager, EMEA at Elo. I am convinced we will see more and more solutions based on AI and machine learning, and this solution with Autocanteen has proven to be at the forefront of this trend.
